INTER-COLLEGE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP :
17th August and 18th August 2022
The Inter-College Chess Championship was organised by Goa University on 17th August and 18th August 2022 at the Jubilee Hall, Goa University Goa Multi Faculty College participated in the championship. The team was selected for the same after conducting a selection round at the college campus. A total of 20 students reported for the selection. Out of the 20 students the college team of 6 players was selected. The college team consisted of the following members: Shania D`Costa (TYBBA), Sairaj Satarkar (TYBCA), C.Nishant Mohan (TYBCA), Tejas Gaude (FYBCOM), Chetan Mirashi (FYBCA) and Devendra Gaonkar(FYBCA).
In the first round against Fr. Agnel Pilar, the college team won one game and lost three. In round 2 against GC Home Science, we won three matches and lost one. In the third round against Gvm`s college, we won three matches and lost one. In round four all the players lost against the players of G.M.C Bambolim. In round five we lost three matches and won one game. In the 6th round against G.C Music College we won two matches and lost two. Last round against N. Zantye College we lost all matches.
Overall the students performed well. It was a satisfactory performance by the team.
POWERLIFTING:
25th 26th and 27th August 2022.
The Powerlifting Championship was organised on 25th 26th and 27th August 2022 by Goa University. On the first day in the upto 59 kg category, Keshav Gaonkar and Prince Saini of (FYBCom qualified for Squats. In upto 66kg both Nishant Surlekar and Dinesh Patil qualified for the same. Glen Fernandes and Sunil Waddar qualified in Squats for the upto 74 kg category.
In Bench Press Prince Saini was Disqualified Keshav Gaonkar qualified. In 66kg category Nishant Surlekar was disqualified and Dinesh Patil qualified. In 74 kg category Glen Fernandes and Sunil Waddar got qualified for next round.
In Deadlift all qualified in their respective weight category.
BEST PHYSIQUE
29th August 2022
The Best Physique contest was held on 29th August 2022 at the Jubilee Hall at Goa University. The college was represented by only one contestant Keshav Gaonkar (FYBcom) in the upto 60 kg category. He performed very well but could not qualify beyond the first round.
All the athletes in the above events were undergoing training at their local gyms under their personal trainers.
NATIONAL SPORTS DAY CELEBATION 2022

(Lamp lighting ceremony at National Sports Day celebration at GMFC)
The Department of Physical Education and Sports at Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora, Goa, celebrated the National Sports Day on Saturday, 8th September 2022. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of India’s Hockey Wizard Major Dhyan Chand Singh that is on 29th August 2022.
The celebration commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. This was followed by a speech from the Chief guest Dr. Kunja Priolkar. He provided insights about the National Sports Day and the life of Major Dhyan Chand Singh; he mentioned how even a world leader like Hitler was impressed with the skills that Major Dhyan Chand possessed. The Principal also praised the department of Physical Education and Sports and the students of the college for celebrating the event. Mr Sanket Jotkar gave a brief report about the various sports activities for the academic year 2022-2023.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports had organised a Push-up challenge, Plank challenge and Musical chair for Staff and students of the college which received an impressive response. More than 50 students and staff members of the college participated in the competitions.

The function ended with the vote of thanks proposed by College Director of Physical Education and Sports Mr. Sanket Uday Jotakar who thanked the principal for his tremendous support shown towards sports and physical education, he also thanked the management of Sateri Pissani Education Society for their encouragement and finally concluded by thanking all the students who helped in organising National Sports Day.
CROSS COUNTRY:
6th September 2022
The Cross-Country practices for preparing the college started on 6th September 2022 for both Men and Women. There were 6 Men and 6 Women athletes participating in the practice sessions every day. Each day the practice session lasted from 90 minutes to 120 minutes. A practice session of 4 days was conducted to prepare the team. In the Men Section, only 3 participated Santosh Yegde (SYBCom) secured 6th place, Devidas Gaude (TYBCA) came 44th position, Sunil Narayanver (SYBBA) got 73rd position. The women’s team were represented by Rakshanda Naik (TYBCOM) secured 27th position Khushi Gaonkar (FYBCom) secured 28th position Shefali Gaonkar (FYBCom) came 29th position, Susmita Gaude ( TYBCom) secured 53rd position and Saloni Naik (FYBCom) secured 54th position.

JUDO INTER-COLLEGIATE EVENT :

The Judo Inter-Collegiate Event was held at the Goa University Jubilee Hall on 20, 21, 22 and 23rd September 2022. The Goa Multi Faculty College team participated in both the Men and Women events. A coaching camp of 10 days was conducted for the students under the guidance of Mr. Vinayak Dessai at Ponda Sports Complex from 9 to 19 September 2022. In the Men section, there were total 9 participants and in the Women section a total of 4 participants.
In the upto 56 kg category, Mukesh Mangaonker lost in the 1st round while Sanaulla (SYBCA) won his 1st round but could win in the 2nd round.In upto 66 kg category Rohan Narayanvar (SYBBA) lost his bout and Harsh Zore (FYBCOM) won Bronze Medal. In the upto 73 kg category Anirudh Parwar (SYBBA) and Soell Hussain (SYBBA) lost in the 1st round. In upto 100 kg category Vishal Patil
(FYBCOM) lost in the 1st round. In the open category Devendra Gaonkar (FYBCA) and Pritesh Jadhav (FYBCOM) lost their respective bouts.
In the women section, Melvia Mascarenhas (FYBCOM) lost the 1st bout in the upto 48kg category. In up to 63 kg category Komal Kamble (FYBCOM) won Bronze Medal. In up to 78 kg Shania Dcosta (TYBBA) and Saloni Naik (FYBCA) lost in the 1st round.
It was an encouraging performance by the students winning 2 medals for the college and putting the name of our college in the Sports map of the university.
FOOTBALL :
14/09/2022
A selection trial was held on 14/09/22 for which around 30 boys had participated. A coaching camp of one month was organised for the men’s team. In order to prepare for the tournament a lot of practice matches were organised for the team. 20 Students were shortlisted who would represent the college in the tournament.
The first match of the inter-college football tournament was against GVMS College. The college team was captained by Mr. Bhaskar Jalmi of FYBCA. The boys played a very good game and won the match by 3-0. Darshan Pujari from SYBBA scored one goal while Siddhant Gawas of FYBBA scored a brace.
In the second round, we played against Caculo College Mapusa and lost 2-1. Our team played very well but luck was not in our favour we could not grab our chances to equalise in the dying minutes. Darshan Pujari of SYBBA scored 1 goal in the losing course.
INTER-COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT (WOMEN)
The first match of the Inter-College Football Tournament was against Vidhya Probodhini College, Porvorim, Goa. The college team was captained by Ms. Anjali Gurav of SYBCOM. And we lost the game in 0-5 goal difference.

INTER COLLEGE TENNIKOIT (MEN) CHAMPIONSHIP:
27th September 2022
The Inter College Tennikoit (Men) Championship was held on 27th September 2022. A total of 8 students attended a 2-week camp. Out of the 8 students, 5 were selected to represent the college at the inter-college event. The selected players were Tejas Gaude (FYBCOM), Bhaskar Jalmi (FYBCOM), Prayag Sawant (FYBCOM), Satyam Sawant (FYBCOM), Ankit Gholkar(TYBCOM).
In the 1st round, the college team got the bye. In the 2nd round, we played against Chowgule College 1st singles was played by Prayag and he defeated his opponent 2-0 in a tough match. The second singles were played by Bhaskar and he lost his match by 2-0, 3rd match which was the doubles played by Prayag and Ankit, lost by 2-0 in a nail-biting finish.
INTER-COLLEGE TENNIKOIT (WOMEN) CHAMPIONSHIP
28th September 2022
The Inter-College Tennikoit (Women) Championship was held on 28th September 2022. A total of 9 students attended a 2-week camp. Out of the 9 students, 5 were selected to represent the college at the inter-college event. The selected players were Tanvi Gaonkar (TYBCOM), Sweta Khandeparkar (TYBCA), Siya Palkar (SYBCA), Neha Gaonkar (FYBCOM), Anisha Bandekar (TYBCOM). In the 1st round, the college team played against S. Joseph Vaz College and won convincingly. Neha Gaonkar and Siya Palkar won their singles easily. In the 2nd round, we played against Govt. College Khandola and lost 2-0.
As our students participated for the first time it was a wonderful display of skills. We have a good chance of winning more rounds in the coming years.
STATE LEVEL INTER-COLLEGIATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
SPES’s Goa Multi-Faculty College had organized a State level Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament on 28th October 2022 and 29th October 2022 at Ponda Municipal Volleyball Court in which a total of 16 teams from different colleges across the state of Goa had participated. The inauguration of the said tournament was held on 28th October 2022 at 9.00 am which began with a welcome address by the Principal of Goa Multi-Faculty College Dharbandora, Prof. (Dr.) Shaikh Mohammed Parvez Al-Usmani, followed by the introduction and floral welcome of the chief guest, Shri. Govind Gaude, Minister of Art and Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs and other dignitaries on the dais. The function proceeded with a lamp lighting ceremony at the hands-off the dignitaries followed by a keynote address by the chief guest, Shri. Govind Gaude. In his speech he urged to have a talent hunt to identify students who could play not just at the state level but at the national level as well, further he added saying that students should focus on improving their skills and colleges should create platform for the students to showcase their skills. As a mark of gratitude, the principal of Goa Multi-Faculty College offered a memento to the chief guest. The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sanket Jotkar, College Director of Physical Education and Sports.

GMFC EMERGES VICTORIOUS AT INTER-COLLEGIATE VOLLEYBALL EVENT
SPES’s Goa Multi-Faculty College, Dharbandora emerged victorious by defeating Mandrem College, Mandrem by 25-19 and 25-20 at the State level Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament held recently at Ponda. In the semi-finals, Mandrem College won against S.S. Dempo, Cujira while GMFC sailed over CES College, Cuncolim. Chief Guest of Prize Distribution Function, Shri. Ravi Naik, Minister of Agriculture, Handicrafts and Civil Supplies distributed Trophies and handed over cash prizes to the Winners and Runners-up and also felicitated to outstanding players. Ashik Gaude of GMFC was declared as the best spiker; the best setter was bagged by Shubham Surlekar from S.S. Dempo; the best blocker was Satyam Sawant belonging to GMFC and Player of the tournament was secured by Kashiram Korgaonkar from Mandrem College.
In his address, Chief Guest complemented Goa Multi-Faculty College for having organized the event and advised the players about the vital need of discipline, time management, practice and dedication to achieve great heights in life and also urged them not to neglect their studies. While welcoming the gathering, Principal Prof. Shaikh Mohammad Parvez Al-Usmani thanked the players from various colleges for having participated in this event and further said that such types of initiatives help in identifying the potential players who could represent the state and function as a talent hunt. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by College Director of Physical Education and Sports Mr. Sanket Jotkar and Ms. Anaya Mulik, Assistant Professor compered the event.
Earlier, the 2-day event was thrown open by Shri. Govind Gaude, Minister of Art and Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs by cutting the ribbon, and subsequently speaking at the inaugural function, urged the youngsters to work hard in persistence and continue to update and upscale their skills so that they can play not just at the state level but at the national level. He further he added colleges should create such platforms for the students to showcase their skills and aid in honing the same. In all, 16 teams from various colleges participated in this competition.
INTER-COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
The Inter-College Volleyball Tournament was held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor Stadium, Taleigao from 10th to 13th January 2023. The students practiced for 15 days to prepare for the tournament. A total of 26 students 13 Boys and 13 Girls attended the coaching camp out of which 12 boys and 12 girls were selected to represent the college. It was seen that the students performed well in all these matches.
In the first round our college boys captained by Prayag Sawant faced P.E.S Education, Farmagudi. In a very hard fought match our college boys defeated PES in straight sets 25-12, 25-13. It was a brilliant performance by the boys. The second match that is the pre-quarters was played against Govt College Khandola, again our college boys defeated Khandola in straight sets 25-17 ,25-16.The third match is the quartes final was Played against PES College Farmagudi After Losing the 1st set 25-23 ,the team comeback in the 2nd set by 25-24. In the 3rd set a brilliant performance by the boys was enough as the college team edged passed PES Farmagudi with a narrow margin. In the Semifinals the college team faced Madrem College, in a tough match our college won in straight 3 sets 25-20, 26-24, 25-22 and qualified for the final. The finale of the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament was won by Goa Multi-Faculty College by defeating SS Dempo College by 21-25 , 25-15 ,25-12 and 25-18. Throughout the tournament the students showed a brilliant performance and hardwork. .
- In the women section the college played against Dnyanprasarak Mandal`s college, in the 1st match. The team was captained by Siya Palkar from SYBCA. The girls team lost in straight 2 sets against Dm`s College. Overall it was a satisfactory performance by the students.
INTER-COLLEGE KHO KHO CHAMPIONSHIP :
17th to 20th January 2023
The Inter-College Kho Kho Championship was held at Fatorda ground from 17th to 20th January 2023. The college Men team participated in the championship. The students had a training camp of 1 week for their preparation. Out of these the best 13 in the Men category were selected to represent the college.
In the First match in the Men’s section, GMFC played against Don Bosco Panjim. The team captain was Devidas Gaude of TYBCA. In a very hard-fought match, our college lost the match by 1 point. The best players for the college were Devidas Gaude, Ashik Gaude and Akshay Gaonkar.
ATHLETICS :
21st January 2023
The Athletics practices for preparing the college started on 21st January 2023 for both Men and Women. There were 14 Men and 8 Women athletes participating in the practice sessions every day. A practice session of 10 days was conducted to prepare the team.
In total 14 Men teams took part in the inter-college Athletics organised by Goa University. The students participated in events like javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, long jump, high jump, short distance and long distance runs, and relays. It was an impressive performance by the students of our college in all the events. The student that stood out was Santosh Yedge studying in SYBCOM got 4th place in 5000m, Sunil Waddar of TYBcom got second place in Javelin throw.Pratap Bhamaikar of FYBCA qualified for the final of 1500 and secured 6th place.
The women’s team also participated in the championship. In total 8 women participated in various events like long jump, short distance runs, javelin throw, high jump and shot put. They displayed a courageous performance. Miss.Siya Palkar of SYBCA secured 2nd place in the Long jump. Miss Khushi Gaonkar of FYBCom qualified for the finals of 400m run and secured 7th place. Miss Manda Gaude of SYBCA qualified for the final of 200 m run and secured 8th place. s Miss Shefali Gaonkar of FYBCom qualified for the final of 200 m run and secured 8th place overall it was a satisfactory performance for the college team.

KABADDI (MEN) CHAMPIONSHIP:
28th February and 1st March 2023
The Kabaddi (Men) Championship was held on 28th February and 1st March at Jubilee Hall Goa University organised by Goa University. The men’s team from the college participated. In total, there were 12 men attended the 2 days training camp to prepare for the championship.
The men’s team played 1st match against S.S Dempo College. We won the match by 30-12 point difference. In the second round, we played against GVMS College of Education Ponda Goa by Disqualification. As we had only 8 players on the court and a minimum 10 players were required to play a match. Our students had ISA exams so they could not come for the match.

INTER COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT
The Inter College Cricket Tournament was held at Goa University Football Ground, Taleigao from 10th March onwards. The students practiced for 13 days to prepare for the tournament. A total of 22 Boys attended the coaching camp out of which 16 boys were selected to represent the college. To prepare for the tournament the students also played practice matches.
In the first round our college boys faced Don Bosco College of Engineering. The team was captained by Sapnish Satarkar of FYBCA. After winning the toss Don Bosco College of Engineering chose to bat. The opposition scored 179 runs in 20 overs and gave a target of 180. In reply our team managed a total of 135 runs thereby losing the match by 45 runs.
INTERCOLLEGIATE KABADDI TOURNAMENT
Intercollegiate Kabaddi Tournament organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports, S.S.A. Govt. College of Arts & Commerce, Virnoda, Pernem, supported by ACDOPEG (Association of College Directors of Physical Education of Goa) on 13th February 2023 at the college multipurpose hall, S.S.A. Govt. College of Arts & Commerce, Virnoda, Pernem, Goa.
INTER-CLASS CRICKET TOURNAMENT
A Inter Class Cricket Tournament was organised for the students of the college as part of sports activity for the year on 8th March 2023. The tournament was organised for both boys and girls. In the boys section a total of 11 teams participated and in the girls section there were 3 teams.
The tournament started with the match in the boys section between SYBCA and S.Y.B.B.A, the match was won by FYBCA. The second match was between TYBBA and FYBCOM in which TYBBA were victorious. The next match was between TYBCOM and FYBBA (A), in this match TYBCOM emerged winners. The first quarter final was played between SYBBA and SYBCA in which SYBBA emerged winners. The second quarters was between FYBCA and FYBBA (B) in which FYBCA prevailed over FYBBA (B). The third quarter final was played between the SYBCOM and TYBBA. SYBCOM won the match. The last quarters was played between TYBCA and TYBCOM in which the TYBCA emerged winners. The first semi-final was played between SYBBA and FYBCA in which FYBCA defeated SYBBA. The second semi-final was played between SYBCOM and TYBCA in which TYBCA were victorious.
In the girls section the first match was BBA Department vs BCA Department in which BBA Department emerged victorious.
The finals of the boys section was played between FYBCA and TYBCA and FYBCA won the finals. The finals of the girls section was won by BBA Department by beating BCOM Department.
